LONG TERM GIVING
There as many ways to support the growth of PetsNPatientsSM vision as there are ways to plan a great vacation or family celebration. Donate a working tribute about a loved one who lived their lives supported with the healing love of their pets.

Did you win a lottery? Score on Jeopardy? Are you inheriting funds or property? You name it. Please consult with your legal and financial advisors when considering gifts.

The vital element to our program is our support is twofold;

  • Your donation is in the service of mankind, those that are disabled and in need of help.
  • Your donation goes directly to help the companion pets at risk. It helps create a bridge of support that gives time for healing and a pet's unconditional love.

Please consider;

  • Leaving a specific dollar amount in your will.
  • Designate that a percentage of your estate be given through your will or living trust.
  • Give only the remainder, or residue, of your estate - that which remains after bequests to loved ones have been made.
  • Provide for a gift of specific property-real estate, stocks or other items.
  • Residual income that can be assigned.

Life Insurance Policies
Sometimes the simple gifts are overlooked. PetsNPatientsSM NFP can benefit by:

  • Beneficiary designation: You can simply change your insurance beneficiary to PetsNPatientsSM NFP without changing your will or estate plan. Ask your insurance company for a beneficiary change form to list our organization.
  • Paid-up Policy: A policy that is whole life and paid up has lived out of its intended purpose. You can transfer ownership to PetsNPatientsSM NFP. We then surrender the policy for its cash value. In turn, you receive an immediate income tax deduction for the gift of the policy up to the cash basis, or what you paid for it.
  • Make PetsNPatientsSM NFP the owner and beneficiary: Take out a new life insurance policy and list us as the owner and beneficiary of the policy. Premium payments can be made by you directly to the insurance company or by PetsNPatientsSM or its affiliates, by way of your annual gift to the organization. No matter what way the premiums are paid, you can take an income tax deduction.
GIFTS OF STOCK
To avoid a significant portion of your tax liability while still receiving a charitable contribution deduction you can donate highly appreciated assets. If you donate a long-term appreciated asset such as stock to our foundation with an affiliate partner you are generally entitled to an income tax deduction for the current fair market value of that asset, no matter what your original cost. Additionally, all capital gains taxes that were due would be avoided.

However, to take a deduction for gifts of securities at their current value, you must have owned them for one year and a day. The asset you donate is usually removed from your taxable estate, which means an additional tax savings for your heirs. As always consult with your legal and financial advisors when planning a gift to any organization.

DONOR ADVISED FUNDS
Do you already have a donor advised fund in existence? It may be possible to recommend PetsNPatientsSM NFP the charity(s) to receive all or part of the assets remaining in the fund, after your lifetime. Simple name our organization alone or in conjunction with an affiliate partner, as the beneficiary for part or all of these assets.
